    Description

What an immense character Ramon de la Cruz was! And we know him! We owe him the introduction of the main values of the Enlightenment, the creation of new popular types, the presence of the metatheatre through the complex vicissitudes of actresses and actors of their time, the secularization of theatre or the systematization of the sainete as a scenic genre. Do you know what the words ensaimada and sainete happen in? Well, yes! In the lard, or saum that is what it is called Catalan. The sainete emulates the reward given to hunting birds when they charged a prey: a small bit of pork fat. And the spectators were rewarded with a small work that separated the right days from the main play. Ramón de la Cruz made this minor art one of the jewels of the Spanish dramaturgy of the eighteenth century. Llusa Cunilléha sewed several sainets of Don Ramón that agree to show us the world of theater companies in between and offers us a detailed description of his people. And it allows us, through the times, to be able to go into the world of a national classical theatre company, made up of actresses and actors who have been trained over the last few years on their stages.
